Assunção

Maria D’Assunção Costa is the principal partner of Assunção Consultoria Institucional. She is a lawyer, graduated by Universidade de São Paulo, with a master degree in State Law by PUC de São Paulo and is currently obtaining a doctor’s degree in the Instituto de Eletrotécnica e Energia of Universidade de São Paulo.

Assunção has great knowledge in institutional, regulatory, contractual and bid matters, by performing as a professional of the infrastructure field since 1981. During this period, she has attended several titles in the public and private sectors, favoring a single experience in this relevant economic segment and singularizing a publicly-known specialization in the matters regarding electricity.

Besides working in the public sector of the State of São Paulo – Energy State Department and COMGÁS, she comprised the regulatory team of the firm Machado, Meyer, Sendacz e Opice Advogados from 1998 to 2006, as well as worked as external consultant to Manesco, Ramires, Perez e Azevedo Marques Advocacia from 2006 to 2007.

Additionally, she also adds deep and up-to-date knowledge in the alternative dispute resolution matters, with special emphasis in negotiation, mediation and arbitration, in which she has already performed. Assunção is part of the Mediators and Arbitrators List of IBDE.
Assunção is one of the founders of Instituto Brasileiro de Estudos do Direito da Energia – IBDE –www.ibdenergia.org.br, and is currently its Executive Officer.

Assunção also participates of the Natural Gas Commission of Instituto Brasileiro do Petróleo e do Gás Natural – IBP –www.ibdenergia.org.br
